William Briggs Jr.

William James Briggs Jr., 44, of Andrews, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 2 p.m. at McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Ernie Cooper officiating.

Mr. Briggs was born July 21, 1963, in Andrews, a son of District Elder William and Sister Geneva Briggs. He attended Williamsburg County schools and was a member of Starlight Holiness Church Number 1. He worked at Andrews Tire Company.

Surviving are his wife, Theresa A. Briggs of Andrews; three children, Deshawn Briggs, Quintell Briggs and Shakeema Briggs, all of Andrews; three stepchildren, Kyishia Arrington, Kyoshia Arrington and Dewayne Nesmith, all of Andrews; his parents of Nesmith; two sisters, Emily J. Briggs and Henrietta Durant, both of Nesmith; three brothers, Alexander Briggs, Edward Briggs of Nesmith and Robert Briggs of Myrtle Beach.

Mable Brown

Mable Barnes Brown, 86, of Hartsville, died Thursday, April 24, 2008.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Union Methodist Church in Georgetown. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and lasts until noon at the funeral home.

Mrs. Brown was born on May 1, 1921, in Rhems, a daughter of the late Robert Dudley Barnes and Carolyn Eliot Barnes. She attended the University of South Carolina, and she was a homemaker.

She was predeceased by a sister, Reba Cook, and two brothers, Malcolm Barnes and Liston Barnes.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, James L. Brown of Hartsville; two sons, Robert Brown of Hartsville and Edward Brown (Deborah H.) of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Anne Brown (Beau Smith) of Atlanta; and two grandchildren, Dorian Brown and Julian Smith, both of Atlanta.

Memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel, P.O. Box 56, Lydia, SC or to Union Methodist Church, Georgetown, SC.

Alvin Fullmore

Alvin Fullmore, 70, of Nesmith, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Prince George Healthcare Center in Georgetown.

Nesmith-Pinckney Funeral Homes will announce funeral arrangements.

John Holmes Jr.

John F. Holmes Jr., 80, of Georgetown, widower of Winnie Lee Mincey-Holmes, died Sunday, April 27, 2008.

Graham Funeral Home will announce funeral arrangements.

Joel Jackson

Joel Keith Jackson, 52, of Williamston, S.C., husband of Rebekah Penfield Jackson, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at his residence.

Memorial services will be Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 5 p.m. at Gray Mortuary Chapel in Pelzer.

Mr. Jackson was born in Charleston, a son of Billye Katherine Green Jackson and the late Fred Ross Jackson. He was formerly employed with Upstate Concrete.

Surviving are his wife of the home; his mother of Surfside Beach; two sons, Keith Jackson Jr. and Jamey Jackson, both of the home; a daughter, Amanda Tuck of Fort Campbell, Ky.; a twin brother, Noel Bruce Jackson of Surfside Beach; two brothers, Richard Wright of North Carolina and Gordon Ross Jackson of Chapel Hill, N.C.; a sister, Sheila Brooks of Ninety-Six, S.C.; and two grandchildren.

Alina Lambert

Alina Weatherford Lambert, 43, of Georgetown, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 10 a.m. in Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church with the Revs. Phillip C. Thrailkill and Charles Tarte officiating. Burial, directed by Mayer Funeral Home, Georgetown Chapel, will follow in Elmwood Cemetery Annex. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 30, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lambert was born Oct. 24, 1964, in Dillon, a daughter of the late Rufus Weatherford and Margie Lee Tyler Weatherford. She grew up in Dillon and moved to Georgetown as a young woman and attended Winyah High School. Mrs. Lambert then moved back to Dillon, where she attended Trinity Holiness Church of Gaddys Mill.

Surviving are her husband, Richard Alan Lambert of Georgetown; a daughter, Sheena Horne of Lake View; three stepsons, Alan Lambert of Diamond Head, Miss., Richard Cole Lambert of Yauhannah and Robert Smith of Charleston; a stepdaughter, Sabrina McClellan of Georgetown; two sisters, Wendy Britt of Georgetown and Linda Hunt of Laurinburg, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

Anita Lewter

Anita Perrine Lewter, 47, of Murrells Inlet, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at her residence.

Memorial services will be Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Finch, 123 Creek Harbor Circle in Murrells Inlet.

McMillan-Small Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lewter was born Aug. 9, 1961, in Tacoma, Wash., a daughter of Hubert Barry and Zana Marie Boughton Finch. She graduated from Socastee High School.

Surviving are her husband, Kevin Lewter; a son, Robert Fisher of Charleston; a daughter, Angela Perrine of Twain Harte, Calif.; three brothers, Bruce Finch, Barry Lee Finch and Bryan Finch; and two sisters, Anne Fauss and Alice Radovic.

Beulah Richardson

Beulah Mae Richardson, 62, of Andrews, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were Monday, April 28, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion AME Church with the Rev. McNeil Evans officiating. Burial, directed by McKnight-Fraser Funeral Home, followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Richardson was born June 4, 1945, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late John Brockington Sr. and Beulah Dicker McCray. She was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church and attended Georgetown County schools.

Surviving are two daughters, Sheila Shaw of Andrews and Bertha Lee Blain of Myrtle Beach; two sons, Robert Richardson Jr. and Daniel White of Andrews; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Neada Bell Pressley and Geneva Pinckney, both of Andrews, and Annie Lee Preston of Darlington; and three brothers, English McCray Jr. of Andrews, Elijah McCray of Hampton, Va., and John Brockington Jr. of Rochester, N.Y.

Parkley Tilton

Parkley H. Tilton, 76, of Manning, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, in a Florence hospital.

Funeral services were Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway.

Burial followed in Piney Forest Cemetery.

Mr. Tilton was born in Lancaster, a son of the late Robert and Betty Cox Tilton. He was a breakman for Georgetown Steel Corp.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Langley Tilton of the home; two children, Wanda F. Guthrie of Manning and Derrell Tilton (Angela) of Georgetown; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clem Tilton (Mary) of Alberdeen, N.C., Loyis Tilton (Polly) of Florence and Eugene Tilton (Doris) and Patrick Tilton, both of Manning; eight sisters, Bertha Powers of Hemingway, Cornelia Broadway (Wayne) of Paxville, Mildred Sims (James), Adell Broadway, Nora Lee Spignel, Ora Bee Bowers, Patricia Wright (Christopher) and Betty Ann Baughman, all of Manning.

Homer Waters

Homer "Russ" Russell Waters, 81, of Garden City Beach, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Waccamaw Community Hospital.

Services will be Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel, with Chaplain Carlene Glisson officiating.

Mr. Waters was born in Washington, Pa., a son of the late Harry and Lula Waters. He was World War II U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Lions Club, Indian Wells Golf Club and lifetime member of the VFW. Mr. Waters had worked at Deer Track Golf Course.

He was predeceased by his wife, Clida.

Surviving are four sons, Danny Waters, Dale Waters (Patty) of Texas, David Waters (Nora) of Hawaii and Donn Waters (Teresa) of Florida; two stepdaughters, Toni Marquette (Lowell) of Myrtle Beach and Lori Visnick (Mark) of Ohio; a stepson, Keith Hudgins of Ohio; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice, 1500 Main St, Conway, SC 29526.

Ann Janet Williams

Ann Janet C. Williams, 53, of Johnsonville, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Conway Medical Center.

Services will be Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Hopewell AME Church with the Rev. Bennie Palmer officiating. McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Williams was born July 12, 1954, in Williamsburg County, a daughter of the late Henrietta Cooper and Melvin Wilson.

She attended Williamsburg County schools, and she was a member of Hopewell AME Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Gwendolyn Williams of Johnsonville; two sons, Willie Jake Williams Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., and Norman Jermaine McFadden of Johnsonville; nine sisters, Annie Ruth McCown and Rachel Sanders, both of Hemingway, Bobbie Mae Turner of New York, N.Y., Amelia Grayson and Mattie L. Nesmith, both of Nesmith, Ella Singleton and Judy Stanley, both of Charleston, Annie L. Wilson of Miami, Fla., and Eva J. McClary of Greeleyville; seven brothers, Harry Cunningham and Franklin Wilson, both of Hemingway, Henry Cooper of Manning, Arthur Cooper and John Wilson, both of Florence, David Wilson of New Haven, Conn., and Timothy Wilson of Charleston; and five grandsons.
