Richard Irvine Manning, age 91, of Georgetown, widower of Helen Renfrew Goodwin Manning, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at NHC Healthcare in Garden City.
Mr. Manning was born in Spartanburg on October 25, 1921, a son of the late Bernard Manning and Katharine Ward Burton Manning.
He served in the US Marine Corps during World War II. He was a former stock broker and owner of Mr. Frame It and Ortega Yacht Sales until his retirement in 1994.
Mr. Manning was a member of the Vestry of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Fla. and a member of the Florida Yacht Club.
After moving to Georgetown, he was Guardian Ad Litem and a communicant of Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Katharine B. Manning of La Crescenta, Calif. and Helen R. Manning of Georgetown; a son, Richard I. Manning, Jr. (Nancy) of Greensboro, N.C.; two grandsons, Richard I. Manning III of Greensboro, N.C. and John H. Center Jr. of Melrose, Fla.; two granddaughters, Taylor M. Calvert (Clark) of Franklin, Tenn. and Christiane Weis of San Diego, Calif.; and a great-granddaughter, Cate Calvert.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning, August 21, 2013, at Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church.
Officiating will be The Very Rev. Paul Fuener.
Inurnment will be held at Sumter Cemetery in Sumter at a later date.
