Peggy Reaves Carter, 79, of Kingstree, S.C., widow of William Stafford Carter, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013, in Kingstree Nursing Facility.
Mrs. Carter was born April 10, 1933, in Clinton, N.C., a daughter of the late Ernest Sauls Reaves and Claudine Reeves Reaves Phillips.
Peggy earned her Practical Nursing Degree and license and worked many years for the Williamsburg County School System as a school nurse.
She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where she was a Bible School teacher.
She was a member of the Kingstree Pilot Club and worked as a fund raiser for the American Heart Association and the Lung Association.
After retirement she moved to North Litchfield Beach and lived there several years before returning to Kingstree.
Surviving are her daughter, Ann Carter Mickle of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Mary Beth Carter of Summerville, S.C.; four grandchildren, L.R. Mickle of Pawleys Island, S.C., Ashley Mickle of Trujillo, Spain, Peg Carter Timm of Charlotte, N.C., and Stafford Carter of Charleston, S.C.; and one great-granddaughter, Karis Timm.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, February 4, 2013, in Cedar Grove Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the church.

Jane F. Heckman, 94, died on Saturday, January 19, 2013 in her home at the Lakes of Litchfield in Pawleys Island, S.C.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Flossie and Allan Falconer.
Miss Jane studied voice at the Julliard School of Music in New York City for two years.
She became the soprano soloist at several churches and sang for 19 years before her retirement.
Her last soprano soloist position was at the United Methodist Church of Germantown in Philadelphia, under the direction of the nationally acclaimed Michael Korn, founder of the Philadelphia Singers.
During World War II, Jane attended Pierce Business School in Philadelphia and then went on to work for Leeds and Northrop.
She later married Robert Heckman in 1942 and after the war they lived in St. Louis where Robert became a Minister of Music in the Congregational Church and Jane was the soloist.
Miss Jane was predeceased by her son, David Heckman.
Survivors include her daughter, Dr. Nancy Heckman of Vancouver, British Columbia, and her granddaughter Emma Jane Heckman, also of Vancouver.
Miss Jane was a member of the Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church in Pawleys Island.
Memorial services will be held in March 2013, when the Heckman family will be able to join with you in remembering Miss Jane.

Patricia Haywood Hopper Ruiz, 59, wife of Jose Heziquio Ruiz Sierra, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Born on September 11, 1953, in Georgetown, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Haywood Elton Hopper and the late Ruth Agnes Ankersen Hopper.
Mrs. Ruiz was a member of St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church, worked in the mail room at Georgetown Hospital, and enjoyed photography.
Survivors include her husband of Georgetown; a daughter, April K. O’Dell (Mike) of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Anthony O’Dell, Zachery O’Dell and Alexis O’Dell; three sisters, Ann H. Wilson (Billy), Frances H. Howard (John) and Mary Agnes Richardson, all of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church.
Burial followed in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Graham Funeral Home with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. and other times at the home of Frances and John Howard on Cedar Street.
