Samuel Harold “Sam” Altman, age 48, of Johnsonville, S.C. passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Born March 2, 1964, in Florence, Sam was the son of James Harold Altman and Mary Sue Parsons Altman of Johnsonville.
He was part owner of Johnsonville Mechanical, Inc., and a member of Word of Life Church.
Sam enjoyed fishing with his buddies and riding dirt bikes. He was a graduate of Johnsonville High School.
Survivors include his life-long companion and fiancé, Gloria Evans; daughter, Jessica Stone and son, Joshua Stone, both of Johnsonville; sisters, Susan (Ronald) Williams of Hemingway, and Janet Altman of Hemingway; nephews, Clay (Donna) Prosser and Chance Prosser, both of Johnsonville; one great-niece; and one great-nephew.
Sam was predeceased by a brother, Randall Briley Altman; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Estelle Parsons; paternal grandfather, Sam Altman; paternal grandmother, Crosier Altman Daniels; and step-grandfather, Lt. Col William F. Daniels.
Funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012, at the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow in the family cemetery located at his residence.

John Goodwin Jr.
John “Earl” Goodwin Jr., 80, of Georgetown, S.C. died on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at MUSC Hospital in Charleston.
Mr. Goodwin was born in Fork on October 28, 1932, a son of the late John “Sam” Earl Goodwin and Nellie McKenzie Goodwin.
He lived most of his life in Georgetown and served in the Georgetown Army National Guard.
Mr. Goodwin was a former supervisor for Coburg Dairy and retired from Georgetown Steel Corp.
He was involved with the Georgetown Church of the Nazarene for 58 years, and spent his life feeding the less fortunate.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Marie Taylor Goodwin of Georgetown; three sons, Tommy Goodwin (Jeanie), Paul Goodwin (Kathy), and Robbie Goodwin, all of Georgetown; three grandchildren, P. J., Caitlyn, and Caroline Goodwin; a sister, Kate Miller; and special furry friend, Spunkie.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Goodwin was predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon, December 14, 2012, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

Bernice Wilson Johnson Wilkinson, 91, of Georgetown, S.C. died Thursday, December 13, 2012, at her residence.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 in Belin United Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, December 14, 2012 at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
