Alan Brown Jr.
Alan Gault Brown Jr., 81, husband of Bette Nelson Milligan Brown, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 at Tidelands Community Hospice House.
Born on September 28, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of the late Alan Gault Brown Sr. and the late Ella Inez McDonald Brown.
Mr. Brown was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Navy Corpsman stationed at Parris Island Marine Corps Depot.
He was retired from International Paper Company and was a member of the Pine Tree Club and the Navy Club.
Mr. Brown was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed coaching Dixie Youth Baseball for many years.
Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; three sons, Alan Gault Brown III (Jean) of Georgetown, Nelson E. Brown (Tammie Avant) of Georgetown and James Herbert Galt-Brown of Sycamore, Ga.; four grandchildren, Travis Brown (Amber), Christopher Brown, Brook Brown and Nicholas Brown; one great-grandchild, Emma Grace Brown; three step-great-grandchildren, Daylon, Kara and Kayla; one step-great-great-grandchild, Prestyn; and one cousin, J.C. McDonald.
Funeral Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2013 at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Dora Gafford officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. on Sunday in the Family Life Center at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church.

William Lovorn Jr.
William E. Lovorn Jr., of Mebane, N.C. passed away at his home on April 11, 2013.
A native son of Georgetown and a two time graduate of Winyah High School, first in the 11th grade and then the following year when the 12th grade was added.
He lived several years in Richmond, Va. where he worked as store manager of Charles Department Store, a local downtown store that was a fixture in Richmond until it closed in the 1980’s and the store building burned down while being remodeled as condominiums.
He served on the Richmond Downtown Merchants Association in various capacities including vice president.
He was predeceased by his former wife, June P. Lovorn, of Chester, Va., and survived by his current wife, Guadalupe “Lupita” Gonzalez-Lovorn.
He had only one surviving daughter by his first marriage, Ruth L. Moats, currently residing in Vienna, Va., along with three grandchildren, William Lee Moats II, Sarah Anne Moats and Zachary Andrew Josef Moats.
His son-in-law, William Lee Moats, predeceased him in 2009.
In addition, he is survived by his sister, Ann Lovorn Powers, and his late brother-in-law, Jackie Powers, of Georgetown, S.C.; his brother, Zachary Taylor Lovorn; his sister-in-law, Anna R. Lovorn, of Warner Robins, Georgia and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
James Hugh Thames, 66, widower of Sue Thames, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Born on December 18, 1946, in Charleston, he was a son of the late B.G. Thames Jr. and the late Nona Bradshaw Thames.
Survivors include two sisters, Charlotte Thames Morse (Julian) of McClellanville and Harriett Thames Hutchenson (Eddie) of Moncks Corner; one niece, Julia Anna Morse Burbage of Charleston; and two nephews, William Bill Hutchenson of Charleston and Julian Wesley Morse (Lacey) of Mt. Pleasant.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Ann Thames.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, 2013 in the Wrens Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. James Harper officiating.

Billy Young, age 69, of Georgetown passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013.
Born on March 11, 1944, in Lumberton, N.C., Billy was the son of the late Herman and Betty Lowery Young.
Billy was a roofer by trade and attended Rhems Pentecostal Holiness Church.
He loved playing with his grandkids and enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed fishing and sitting on the porch in the sunshine.
Survivors include his daughter, Priscilla Goude (Kenneth) of Andrews; son, Shaine Young (Lucy) of Georgetown; sisters, Eunice Hodge (Tony) of Titusville, Fla., and Ruth Springs (Sidney), Curleen Tisdale, and Linda Jordan (Elwaine), all of Georgetown; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Bobby Young (Diane) of Titusville; and many nieces and nephews.
Billy was predeceased by his son, Billy Brian Young; brothers, Charles “Cheet” Young, and Benny Earl Young; and a nephew, Bruce Young.
Funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held at 3 p.m on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Rhems Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Interment will follow in the Antioch cemetery.
