Woman found safe after 5 hour search
A search for a missing Maryville woman that began at about 7:15 a.m. today ended at about 12:20 p.m. with good news.
Dortha McClure, 68, walked out of her Oakley Street residence at about 1:30 a.m. wearing pajamas, according to police. Because she has dementia it was feared she may not have aware of her surroundings.
It was also believed she could have been trying to get to Myrtle Beach which is where she is originally from, said Police Capt. Nelson Brown.
He said McClure lives with family and a many cam set up in the house shows her walking out at about 1:30 a.m.
Brown said a SLED helicopter and a dog tracking team from Horry County was assisting police, the Sheriff's Office, and firefighters in the search.
Police received a call at about 12:20 p.m. saying the woman had been spotted at the campus of Horry-Georgetown Technical College.
"She was safe and sound," Brown said.
