Hand grenade at Pawleys Island Recycling Center

Georgetown County deputies have requested assistance from Horry County at the recycling center on Grate Ave. in Pawleys Island after what was at first called a bomb threat.
Authorities now saw what appears to be a hand grenade was found in a recycling container at about 9:30 a.m.
Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Cuthbertson said the item has been found. Midway Fire is also on the scene.
She said the Horry County Bomb Disposal Team will also be assisting.
The recycling center is closed while investigators are on the scene.
