A fire in Carolina Forest in Horry County Saturday destroyed 110 homes in 26 different buildings devastating the lives of hundreds.

Horry County Spokesperson Lisa Bourcier says at least 80 people checked-in at Ocean Bay Middle School Saturday night.  The Red Cross reports 167 residents used shelter.  She describes a very emotional scene as people found out they lost their homes, and numerous pets that were inside.

Georgetown County businesses and organizations are starting to put together ways to help those impacted by the fire.

• Pets Inn Paradise island is offering to assist the families with pets that were burned out at Carolina Forest to board their dogs or cats at no charge for a week while they are in temporary housing themselves. Call 843-314-3849 or 843-957-8069.

They will also collect non-perishables that were requested and take to the collection point set by the Red Cross in Carolina Forest area.  They need bottled water, non-perishable food items, etc.
