.A familiar face will be returning to Sampit Elementary School in July to take over as principal of the school.
Sabrina Goff-Mack, currently an assistant principal at Andrews Elementary School, has been named as new principal of the school to take over the position held by Maudest Rhue-Scott since 1990.
The announcement was made during a School Board workshop Monday night.
Goff-Mack said she did not know for sure she had the job until she heard her name called.
“I am very excited because Sampit is a great school,” Goff-Mack said. “I am happy to be returning to work with the staff, students and community.”
Goff-Mack was first hired in 1999 to serve as an induction level mentor in the School District.
The bulk of her career has been spent at Sampit Elementary School where she worked as a curriculum specialist before being named assistant administrator in 2009.
She was then transferred to Andrews Elementary.
Her affiliations include the South Carolina Reading Association. She is a committee member of Miss Ruby’s Kids Program.
Rhue-Scott is completing her 40th year as an educator. During retirement she said she plans to remain involved in some way in education while becoming more involved with her church and visiting family in Charlotte.
Goff-Mack said she knows she will never be able to replace Rhue-Scott.
“Dr. Scott is a legacy who has done a great job with that school. I cannot fill her shoes. I gained a wealth of experience by working with her,” she said.
Goff-Mack takes over the school July 1.
