GEORGETOWN, S.C. — Jessica Miller, the finance director for the City of Georgetown, is back on the job.
Miller returned to work Thursday after being on administrative leave with pay for nearly three weeks.
The reasons for her being out of work have not been disclosed by Mayor Jack Scoville or Mike Malone, the city’s labor attorney.
“All I can say is there were some questions raised by some on council and some citizens. As a result of looking into everything, we reinstated her,” Scoville said Thursday.
Miller was told, as part of her reinstatement, she needed to remain on the job through the day Thursday and the days following.
When asked if he expects anything to change with Miller’s employment status, Scoville said “no.”
While she was out, Miller obtained the service of Charleston attorney Terry Ann Rickson who sent the city a letter stating Miller would resign if she were given a two-and-a-half year severance package plus insurance benefits.
That would cost the city $207,000.
