Washington, DC – Rep. Tom Rice (R-Myrtle Beach) took his oath of office on the floor of the House of Representatives Thursday, marking the start of the 113th Congress. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) conducted a ceremonial swearing-in for Rep.Tom Rice (R-SC) and the 113th Congress class. Soon after, Rep. Rice cast his first two votes — Speaker of the House and adoption of the House Rules Package — on behalf of South Carolina’s 7th Congressional District.
“The day finally arrived. I was honored to be sworn in as the United States Congressman for the Grand Strand and Pee Dee,” said Rep. Rice. “Entering the 113th Congress, my priorities remain spurring economic development, implementing real tax and spending reform, and reducing government overreach, so our hardworking small business owners can create more jobs. I understand the needs of our community and will work to make the 7th Congressional District a leader in economic development.
