A female Wal Mart worker said she discovered her car had been stolen from the parking lot when she left work at about 6:25 p.m. July 21.

She said the black 1993 Honda Accord had been parked in row 4.

There were no suspects noted on the report.

Purse snatched

from Wal Mart

A 64-year-old Georgetown woman said she was on aisle 4 in Wal Mart at about 8:15 p.m. Sunday when a man walked up, grabbed her purse from her shopping cart and ran.

The woman said a man she does not know intervened and took the purse from the fleeing suspect.

The purse-snatcher ran through the store and out the lawn and garden department with a worker giving chase.

He fled the scene on a bicycle.

The woman said nothing was taken from her  purse.

Doctor attacked

A Georgetown Memorial Hospital doctor said he was assaulted by a 29 year old woman July 20.

The doctor said the woman got upset when she was told some medical tests would need to be conducted.

She was “agitated and hostile” towards staff as they were administering the tests, the report states.

When the doctor tried to calm her down, the woman “lost her composure” and told the doctor “it is going to take more than you and that security guard to stop me.”

That’s when she pushed the doctor and left the hospital.

Man accuses mom

A 17-year-old from Georgetown said his prescription Ritalin was stolen and he says his mother is to blame.

He said he received calls from two of his friends who claimed his mother was trying to sell the pills.

After hearing that from his friends, the man called CVS and was told his mother had picked up his prescription.

He said this is not the first time his mother has taken his pills.

The woman may be charged with obtaining prescription drugs by fraud.

Taxi fare theft

A driver for Diamond Cab Service said he picked up five men from Broadway at the Beach and drove them to Parker Drive in Pawleys Island July 23.

He said when they arrived at their destination, the men said they needed to go inside to get the money to pay the fare.

The driver said after the men got out, they ran away. He said he was cheated out of $70.

Manhole cover stolen

A manhole cover was discovered missing from Front Street near West Street Monday morning after a car was damaged.

The driver said he struck the open manhole at about 1 a.m. which caused a flat tire.

City workers were called to the scene to replace the cover which cost about $500.

Unwanted landlord

A man from Reef Run Road in Pawleys Island said his landlord went into his home without permission July 24.

He said the landlord started searching the home he is renting and then “started yelling at him about various issues.”

Since the man is about to move out of town, he only wanted the incident documented and did not want to press charges.

 Stolen A/C

Someone stole a $1,000 air conditioning unit from an apartment on Martin Street in Maryville sometime this month.

Whoever took the unit cut the connection wires in order to be able to take it.
