A Kensington man called deputies Nov. 20 after he found out a 14-year-old boy was with an 18-year-old woman and 28-year-old man and was drinking.
He went to the Jacobs Ave. home where the drinking was reportedly taking place and smelled alcohol on the boy’s breath so he took him to his residence and called his parents.
He said when he confronted the adults about allowing the boy to drink, the 28-year-old “came at him” so he hit him in self defense then left the property.
It was also learned the adults allegedly gave the teen drugs when he requested them.
The pair is accused of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Suspicious boat fire
County firefighters were sent to the Dunbar Hunting Club off of Rose Hill Road early Saturday because of a boat fire.
When they arrived, the 19-foot fiberglass boat — which was on a trailer and backed into a wooded area — had completely melted and the identification markings appeared to have been destroyed.
The call about the fire was made by an anonymous person and he could not be located.
An officer from the Department of Revenue responded and was able to locate a hidden serial number in the charred remains of the vessel.
The boat is registered to a man from Pawleys Island.
The boat’s motor was removed before the fire was set.
Third story jumper
A 43-year-old man from North Carolina was taken to Grand Strand Hospital Nov. 22 after he jumped from a third story balcony at a home on Wildberry Way in Pawleys Island.
When deputies arrived, the man was on his stomach and his face was covered in dirt but he was conscious.
When EMS arrived, the man said he needed help because he jumped in an attempt to kill himself.
Earrings taken from hospital
A Pennsylvania woman says her 73-year-old mother — a Pawleys Island resident — was admitted to Waccamaw Community Hospital on Sept. 3 and passed away while she was hospitalized.
The complainant said her mother had given the hospital staff her $4,000 diamond earring to place in a safe for safekeeping.
On Nov. 10 it was discovered the earrings were missing. The woman says she was told by an administrator the earrings were placed in the safe but were later checked out by an unknown person.
Man watches theft at his home
A man said he stopped by his home that is being built in the 300 block of Parker Drive in Pawleys Island Nov. 20 and saw two men taking wood from the house.
He said he watched as they placed the wood inside an SUV they were driving.
The man asked the pair what they were doing and one said they were going to use it for firewood. The men then got in the vehicle and drove away.
The owner took a photo of their license tag. The vehicle is registered to a Wisconsin address.
An employee of Anything Eatz in Pawleys Island is accused of theft from the business.
The complainant said he has the woman on video taking $60 from a register and putting it in her pocket.
He said the woman agreed to pay the money back but has not done so.
A warrant was expected to be presented to a magistrate for prosecution.
