James Woodbury

James Lester Woodbury, age 86, of Conway, S.C. died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

 Mr. Woodbury was born in Dillon and raised in Conway, a son of the late Robert Reece and Eva Hucks Woodbury.  

He attended South Conway Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of Ringle Heights Baptist Church in Georgetown.  

Mr. Woodbury was  retired from the City of Georgetown Fire Department in 1986.  

Mr. Woodbury was a World War II Army veteran where he did two tours of duty in the South Pacific and Japan.  

He was a loving father and grandfather.  

Mr. Woodbury was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Mildred M. Woodbury; two brothers, Robert Leo Woodbury and Benjamin Gause Woodbury; one sister, Virginia Bailey; and one son-in-law, Johnny Wayne Timmons.

Surviving are two sons, Johnny L. Woodbury (Fran) of Conway and David Woodbury (Bonnie) of Andrews; two daughters, Cynthia Gail Timmons of Andrews and Sonja Newton (Robert) of Anderson; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Archie C. Woodbury of Columbia; and three sisters, Becky Spivey of Pelion, S.C., Esther Cooper of Conway and Brittie Hucks of Rock Hill, S.C.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at Old Neck Cemetery in Britton's Neck.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 12, 2012 at the funeral home.
