FUNERAL SERVICES
Vernice Carter
Vernice Williams Carter, 95, of Hemingway, SC, passed away
peacefully on Friday, July 23, 2010. Born April 29, 1915 in
Georgetown County to the late Mattie Ruth Brown & Hughie Hazard Williams.
She is the last survivor of four siblings, Itilene Miller, Thelma Watford, and Hughie M. Williams as well as several half
sisters & brothers, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Vernice will be greatly remembered for her kindness, joy, and love for family and friends which flowed out of her faith in Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Carter is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John Dalmar Carter, and a son, Leonard Cochran Carter.
She is survived by her daughter, Greta Carter Hawkins and her husband, Marion Hawkins, Jr. of Hartsville, SC; a grandson, Marion Hawkins, III of Columbia, SC; granddaughters Elizabeth Hawkins Macdiarmid and her husband, Trey, of New Orleans, LA, Greta Anne Hawkins Rowe and her husband James of Atlanta, GA; also four great grandchildren, Dargan Macdiarmid, Carter Macdiarmid, Graham Rowe, and Lyla Rowe.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 25th at Good Hope United Methodist Church, 7593 Pleasant Hill Drive, Hemingway, SC 29554 with burial in the church cemetery.
Following the burial, the family received friends in the church fellowship hall.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Morrell Nursing Home of Hartsville, SC for their care and support of Mrs. Carter.
A very special heartfelt thanks to Gloria Fox for her loving care and service to Mrs. Carter. Also much gratitude to Nancy & Jimmy Thompson, Phyllis Lindh, and Mary Lee Phillips.

Eugene Coleman III
Eugene Coleman III, 35, of Columbia, South Carolina died Sunday, July 25, 2010 in Columbia, SC.
Funeral services for Mr. Coleman will be held 2 p.m., on Friday, July 30, 2010 at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery.
Mr. Coleman was born March 25, 1975 in Waterbury, CT to Eugene Coleman II and Linette Woodbury.
He was a graduate of Western University, Danbury, CT and worked as a Claims Adjuster for Allstate Insurance Co.
He was a member of First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Coleman is survived by his parents: Eugene Coleman II of Waterbury, CT and Linette Woodbury of Georgetown, SC; his daughter, Treasure A. Coleman of Waterbury, CT; his siblings: Asia Moss, Lamarr Coleman and Chaz Coleman all of Waterbury, CT.
Family visitation will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010, at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.
Funeral service arrangements are entrusted and directed by Wilds Funeral Home, LLC.
Marilyn Eiden
Marilyn Ann Eiden, 76, of Pawleys Island died Sunday at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
She was a native of Lorain, Ohio and a daughter of Lucille Brandt Bark of Lorain, Ohio and the late Raymond Bark.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Francis “Jerry” Eiden; one son, F. J. Eiden and wife Barbara of Pittsburg, Pa; two daughters, Marjorie Bruggink and husband Michael of Port St. Luce, Florida and Ellen Eiden of Pawleys Island;4 Granddaughters; 1 Great Granddaughter and two sisters, Pat Schmitz and Joyce Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, 950-48th Ave N., Myrtle Beach, South Carolina 29577.
Services will be private.

Anna Bell. Gibson
Anna Bell G. Gibson, 75, of Georgetown, South Carolina died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital, Georgetown, SC.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gibson will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Greater St. Stephen AME Church.
Burial will follow in Arnett Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Gibson was born May 31, 1935 in Georgetown, South Carolina to Walter Foster Greene and Mrs. Diane Frasier Greene.
She was a retired cook for Winyah High School and worked as a housekeeper.
She was a member of Greater St. Stephen AME Church where she served on Stewardess Board No. 3 and sang on the Gospel Choir.
Her community affiliations included membership with the Golden Eagle Lodge.
She is survived by her children: Betty Dukes, Ronald Gibson, Walter Gibson, Linda Gibson and Stanley Gibson all of Georgetown, SC and Shalletta Gibson of Augusta, GA; two special angelic women, who were always a support: Jackie Simmons and Mary Richardson of Georgetown, SC; her siblings Charles Greene of Miami, FL , Nathaniel Greene and Trudie Greene Trappier of Georgetown, SC; 18 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Henry Prince
Mr. Henry Simon Prince, 72, of Andrews, SC, departed this life on Wednesday, July 21, 2010.
Funeral services was held at 12 noon Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at W.J. McKnight & Son Chapel in Andrews, SC with Bishop James W. Wilson, officiating.
Burial followed in Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of McKnight-Fraser Funeral Homes.
Mr. Prince, son of the late Rev. Mose H. Prince and Olivia Alston Prince, was born July 8, 1938 in the Oceda Section, Andrews, SC.
He attended Georgetown County Schools and served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors are three brothers, Mose H. Prince, Jr., Samuel L. Prince, Jersey City, NJ, Alexander Prince, Ft. Pierce, FL; two sisters, Mary Ann Holt, Trio, SC and Margaret Alston Prince, Jersey City, NJ.
Joseph E. Smalls
Joseph E. Smalls, 81, of Georgetown, South Carolina died Sunday, July 25, 2010 at Tidelands Community Hospice, Georgetown, SC.
Funeral services for Mr. Smalls will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Greater St. Stephen AME Church.
Burial will follow in Morning Glory Cemetery.
Mr. Smalls was born September 19, 1928 in Georgetown, South Carolina to Phillip Smalls and Mrs. Georgia Richardson Smalls.
He worked as a Chip Feeder at International Paper Co.; as Rail Layer with Atlantic Coast Line Railroad and American Cyanide and as a driver for Wilds Funeral Home. He was a member of Greater St. Stephen AME Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Henrietta Briggs Smalls of Georgetown, SC; his children: Bishop George T. Smalls of Jacksonville, FL and Daisy Howard of Sumter, SC; two first cousins that were reared as siblings, Dr. Mary E. Nesbit of Detroit, MI and Octavia Wineglass of Suffern, NY; an aunt, Wilhelmenia Lewis of Georgetown, SC; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
Family visitation will be held at 7 p.m., Friday evening, July 30, 2010 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel.
