Elias Moore

Funeral services for the late Elias Moore will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Trinity AME Church in Hemingway, S.C.

Interment will follow in the Trinity Cemetery in Hemingway, directed by Nesmith~Pinckney Funeral Home, Inc.

Bro. Elias Moore entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at his residence.

He was married to the late Mattie Sumpter. To this union 13 children were born.    

He was born on July 18, 1924, the son of the late Larry and Mary Alice Moore.

He received his education in Georgetown County public schools.

He was employed with Caption’s Quarters and St. John Inn for many years.

Brother Moore was a member of Trinity AME Church for many years where he served as a trustee, a class leader, on the Gospel and male choir, along with being on the Usher board, a member of the Loyal Order Masons and the church custodian.

He also volunteered his time to various community functions.

He is truly an obedient and amazing servant of God.

One daughter preceded him in death.

Loved ones who will cherish his memories are his children, Verdell (Leroy) Steel, Ruthamae (Gene) Sherman, Larry (Mary) Moore, Frank (Cynthia) Moore, Micheal (Doris) Moore, Joeana (Eugene) Lesane, Windell (Juliana) Moore, and Kenneth Moore, all of Hemingway; Luther (Peggie) Moore of Bucksport, S.C.; Mary Alice (Floyd) Brown of Winston Salem, N.C.; Elijah Moore, Hampton, Virginia and Randy Moore, all of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two brothers, Larry Moore of Bridgeport, Conn.; two sisters, one from Nowar, Conn., and the other from Philadelphia, Pa.; two sisters-in-law, Reita Mae Moore of Myrtle Beach and Leitha Preston of Nowar, Conn.; a total of 163 grands, great-grands, and great-great-grands; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
