FUNERAL SERVICES
Florrie Cox
Florrie Bernice Cox, 70, of Andrews, S.C. went home to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Cox was born in Andrews on July 21, 1942, a daughter of the late Cleve Cox and Leila Idell Avant Cox.
She grew up in the Piney Forest community of Andrews and was retired from working in both home aide care and as a private duty nurse’s aide.
Ms. Cox (Nana) was a loving mother and grandmother.
She was of the Free Will Baptist faith.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Koch of Andrews and Duane “Butch” Koch of Sandusky, Ohio; three daughters, Jeri Elliott and Tammy Glass (Robert), both of Andrews, and Cheryl Evans (James) of Georgetown; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronald “Bubba” Cox (Mary) of Andrews; and three sisters, Patricia Cox of Hemingway, Darla Cox of Andrews, and Audrey Cox (Grover) of Ellerbe, N.C.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Cox was predeceased by a brother, Rusty Cox; and a sister, Shelby Cox.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, January 29, 2013, at the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
Officiating was the Rev. Thomas Casselman.
Burial followed at Piney Forest Cemetery.

Elaine Hawley
Elaine Dusenbury Hawley, 91, Georgetown, died peacefully Monday, January 28, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Donna Griffith, of Irmo.
Mrs. Hawley was born in Conway on October 5, 1921, a daughter of the late Edith Dusenbury Woodbury and Donald Dusenbury, and wife of the late Bert Hawley.
She attended Lander College where she was Miss Lander College.
She was also Miss Georgetown.
Her most precious title was that of a loving, caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was truly a Southern lady and never spoke badly of anyone or anything.
The Hawleys were owners of Woodbury Floral Shop for 49 years.
They were also charter members of Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church.
Surviving are daughters, Sybil Bell of Georgetown, Donna Griffith of Irmo, Susan and Hal Moore of Pawleys Island, and Karen and Dough Helms of Irmo; grandchildren, Janet Cooper, Tracy Bishop, Sibby Bell, Meredith Helms, Brian Herrington, Joel Slotnick, Ryan Slotnick, and Kyle Mancuso; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith Williams; a brother, Billy Woodbury; and a sister in-law, Geneva.
She was predeceased by brother, Harry Woodbury.
She also had many nephews and nieces and a beloved cousin, Don Dusenbury.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
Services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by Rev. Marie Nuckles and cousin, Pastor Nick Dusenbury of Charlotte, N.C.
Entombment will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Lucy Herring
Lucy Mae Powell Herring, 75, native of Andrews, SC and the beloved wife of Pinkie Herring Jr., departed this life on Thursday evening, January 24, 2013, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & Life Care Center.
“Ms. Lucy” was born the daughter of Willie Alexander Powell and Myrle Thomas Powell on March 29, 1937 in Andrews.
She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
Lucy and Pinkie were married on July 22, 1956 and celebrated 56 years together.
Their home was blessed with two daughters, Sharon (Gene) Sikes and Lisa (Billy) Baxley; two grandchildren, Danielle (Daniel) Crowther and Samantha Purifoy; two step-grandchildren, Charlee Baxley and Gracie Baxley.
She also leaves behind a sister, Peggy (C.L.) Wheeler-Cribb; a brother, Thomas Powell; and a step-brother, W.A. Powell.
She was predeceased by her parents; a grandson, David Purifoy; two brothers; five step-brothers; and five half-sisters.
A Going Home Celebration was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at the Earles Pentecostal Holiness Church Family Life Center.
Interment followed in the church cemetery, directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
The Herring family received family and friends immediately following the service in the Family Life Center.

Elizabeth Kimbrough
Elizabeth Anne Redmond Kimbrough, 88, of Georgetown, S.C., widow of Edward Shields Kimbrough, died Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Palmetto Health Baptist in Columbia.
Mrs. Kimbrough was born in Hattiesburg, Miss. on June 18, 1924, a daughter of the late John Lawrence Redmond and Carrie Hegwood Redmond.
She moved to Pawleys Island before moving to Georgetown and graduating from Winyah High School.
Mrs. Kimbrough was a communicant of St. Mary Our Lady of Ransom Church, where she was a part-time church secretary for twenty years, a choir member, and active in both the Catholic Women’s Society and the Altar Guild.
She was a volunteer at Georgetown Memorial Hospital for 15 years and an avid bridge player.
Surviving are two sons, Edward S. Kimbrough Jr. (Debbie) of Georgetown and William M. Kimbrough (Melissa) of Cypress, Texas; two daughters, Donna K. Walker (Charles) of Brunswick, Ga. and Patricia K. Tanner (Sig) of Columbia; six grandchildren, Shannon T. Bozard, Ashley T. Foster and Blair K. Salmon, all of Columbia, Butler E. Kimbrough and Caroline S. Kimbrough, both of Augusta, Ga., and Abigail J. Kimbrough of Cypress, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Tanner, Taylor and Walker Bozard, Edward Salmon, and Hampton Foster; and three sisters, Carolyn R. Heider (Jim) of Charleston, Mary R. Harrington (Pat) of Hattiesburg, Miss., and Agnes R. Vogel of Leander, Texas.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Kimbrough was predeceased by two brothers, John L. Redmond and Paul Redmond.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, January 30, 2013, at Saint Mary Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church.
Officiating will be the Rev. Ronald J. Farrell. Burial will follow at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the Mass on Wednesday at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.

Robert Watts Sr.
Robert “Bob” Olin Watts Sr., 85, of Georgetown, S.C. died Friday, January 25, 2013, at Tidelands Community Hospice House in Georgetown.
Mr. Watts was born in Georgetown on April 1, 1927, a son of the late James Pringle Watts and Eliza Rebecca Roberts Watts.
He grew up in the Sampit community of Georgetown and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Watts retired after 40 years of employment with Westvaco, Andrews Division.
He served as superintendent for Sampit United Methodist Church for more than 30 years and also in many other positions.
Mr. Watts was a member of Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church and was active in the Larry and Dorothy Lambert Sunday School class and the Men’s Prayer Group.
Surviving are his wife, Sarah Graham Watts of Georgetown; a son, Robert O. Watts Jr. (Frankie Ann Tisdale) of Georgetown; a daughter, Susan W. Weckerly (Martin) of Moncks Corner, S.C.; four grandchildren, Bobby and Carson Watts, both of Georgetown; Charlotte L. Bull of Columbia, S.C. and Rebecca L. Jones of Goose Creek, S.C.; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Watts was predeceased by four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, January 27, 2013, at Saints Delight Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Officiating will be the Rev. Chris Browder.
Burial will follow at Sampit United Methodist Cemetery.

Vera Wright-Boyle
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Wright-Boyle of Travelers Rest, S.C., formerly of Andrews, S.C., will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Andrews, S.C.
Burial will follow at Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Vera Mae Rogers Wright-Boyle, 91, of 105 Crimson Glory Way, wife of William Belton “Bill” Boyle died Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.
Born in Andrews she was a daughter of the late Lonnie Artimus and Alice Cleveland Sawyer Rogers.
Mrs. Wright-Boyle attended Andrews schools and was a 1942 graduate of Winthrop College.
She was a dedicated public school teacher at Andrews High School and at Williamsburg High School for 30 years.
She was a member of local, state, and National Teachers Associations; a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Society; a life-long member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Andrews joining in 1934; Assistant Sunday School Teacher of the Adult Daisy Watson Class; a member of Esther Elizabeth Circle, Forever Young, and United Methodist Women.
She was a volunteer worker for various charitable organizations, member and President of the Rosemary Garden Club, Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion, and life-long member of the Disc Club.
In 2004 when the soldiers of the 1st Battalion, 178th Field Artillery returned from Iraq, Vera Mae was presented the prestigious Molly Pitcher Award for writing letters of support to each soldier of the 178th. She was also an avid UNC Tarheel basketball fan.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Ann W. Pressley (Don) of Covington, La., and Robin W. Lee of Travelers Rest; a step son, Billy Boyle of Sumter, S.C.; two sisters, Dot Wollitz Beard of Jacksonville, Fla., and Ettre Vee Moskow of Denmark, S.C.; three grandchildren, Alice Nolan (Stewart) of Mandeville, La., Kery Harrelson of Granby, Colo., and Kim Osborne of Columbia; and great grandchildren, Henry, Avery, Connor, Will, Jackson, and Pressley.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry F. “Hank” Wright; three sisters, Ethel Newton, Frances Blake, and Agnes Edwards; and two brothers, Pergeous and Alton Rogers.
