Caring and Sharing

This letter is about a lot of things. The first is to thank our God and Savior for letting me serve him in this local mission field. The second is for planting the seed of mission right here where you and I have the privilege of living. Do you think that was an accident? Not hardly. He knew you would be here and He knew I would be here. Not only that but He knew we would take care of His organization. That is what makes His organization so wonderful. He is the one that thought of it. He took someone like me who drank every day of my life and turned my life around. I was saved in June of 1996.

About six months later Caring and Sharing came to me in a dream one night. After all the years of heading down the wrong road, He took the taste of alcohol away from me; He saved me and gave me a job to do. We serve our awesome Savior, because He planted that seed where the greatest and most caring people in the world live, they give money and time. I hope you noticed that I didn't say that they gave their money or their time, because none of that is ours anyway. It's not our money or our time. It all belongs to him. The blessings we will receive are what we do with what He has blessed us with.

Sometimes I day dream of having a lot of money, and all the fun I could have giving it away. The Lord has blessed us to be here over 15 years. I am almost 69 years old, and it gets a little tougher each year, but one thing I can promise you and that is I will be serving Him this way as long as I live. You see, I love helping my brothers and sisters in need, because things in life can change very fast. We have seen that happen before, one day you and I could be seeking food.

The last 4 months this year, we couldn't get enough food to feed the 715 families we feed now, but as soon as the wonderful friends found out, they started food drives, and as of now we have enough for a short while. There is one thing I know for sure, and that is Our Savior will take care of this organization. The reason I know is because I believe, I have faith in my Father and Savior.

I guess some of you who read this might say, well you are too old to keep on doing this and maybe you should retire. Well I guess in the business world that might be the way people would think, but you see, I owe a debt that I can't pay back in my lifetime. The debt took place when Jesus went to the cross for my sins. You see He never turned his back on me and I will never turn my back on Him.

We are asking for your help in any way you can, because they are your brothers and sisters also. I never know where help is coming from, but I also know it’s coming. It's called Faith.

This has been a wonderful 15 years, but I am still not satisfied, and you should not be either, because there is still so much to be done. There are still people going to bed hungry. There are still people who have to decide, do I buy medicine, or food? I guess what gets me as much as anything is why do these conditions have to exist? We see millions donated to candidates running for the Presidential nomination that have no more chance of winning than I do. I hate to say it but I think the love of money has taken over the top spot on the idol list. It's nothing wrong with having money; the sin comes in when we love it the most.

I want you to know that I am not writing this letter to you, I am writing this letter to us. I sin every day by what I do wrong or what I fail to do. You might say what does he want? I want what Jesus wanted when He said "Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matt 25:40. It's time for us who are Christians, and those who want to become Christians to stand up and be counted. We have been in our little comfort zone too long. We need to get that burning desire in our hearts to work to help others.

Wanting to help is more than simply a feeling, it is an attitude that reveals itself in action. How can we love others as Jesus loves us? By helping when it's not convenient, by giving when it hurts, by devoting energy to others rather then ourselves.

We at Caring and Sharing want to do more, and we ask you to join us in this effort. I would like to end this with some words of wisdom from a very wise Preacher, He said "Do all the good you can, in all the ways you can, at all the times you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zest you can, as long as ever you can." With our Savior leading us all things are possible. Let's join together and make Jesus proud to call us His Children.

Need a traffic light

My name is Jennifer Rozak. I live in the Murrells Inlet area of Georgetown County, and my children attend Waccamaw Intermediate and Waccamaw Middle School. I would like to request a red light at the intersection of Sandy Island Road and Highway 17.

While traveling to pick up my children at school, I have learned that this is a busy intersection to make a left turn. Highway 17 is busy, and travelers are usually traveling at speeds of 55 miles per hour or more.

Also, this intersection is the only route to travel north on Highway 17. I have attempted to leave the school and make a left turn at Willbrook Boulevard. Only issue, we can only turn right onto Willbrook Boulevard from Wildcat way and make a U-turn to travel to the red light. There are numerous signs on Willbrook Blvd. that restrict U-turns so this is not a proper option. Most people opt to turn left onto Highway 17 at Sandy Island road for this reason.

A red light would ensure safety for our children and parents traveling to Waccamaw Middle and Waccamaw Intermediate School. I feel it is of the utmost importance that we keep our children safe while traveling to these schools regardless of cost.

Also, I am concerned that buses are traveling this same route. Again, a red light at the intersection of Sandy Island Road and Highway 17 would make traveling easier for the buses, too.
