Georgetown High's girls basketball team battled back from a 30-point deficit in the fourth quarter last, but ran out of time and lost 62-47 to North Myrtle Beach.

The Chiefs dominated the first three quarters, taking a 28-16 lead at the half, and extending it to 45-22 at the end of the third quarter.

"We didn't pass the ball or run our offense," Georgetown coach Tony Ford said. "I guess that's their good defense."

Georgetown's full-court press caused a lot of North Myrtle Beach turnovers in the fourth quarter and Bulldogs outscored the Chiefs 25-17. But the Bulldogs' comeback fell short.

Taziya Moody had 21 points and seven steals to lead Georgetown. Justis Evans had 14 points, nine points and three steals; and Raven Smith had seven points, three rebounds and three steals.

"I'm proud of Justis," Ford said. She had a good game."

Georgetown was coming off a 64-39 loss to St. James.

The Bulldogs kept the game close in the first half, trailing only 24-16 at halftime, but the Sharks dominated the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 40-23.

"The score doesn't reflect how close the game was," Ford said.

Moody led Georgetown with 14 points. Smith had nine points and Destinee Anderson had six.

"We have two more games," Ford said. "We're going to keep fighting."

Waccamaw lost 52-40 to Aynor.

The Warriors were outscored 24-8 in the first half, but came out strong in the third quarter to cut the lead to 37-18, and rallied to outscore the Blue Jackets 22-15 in the fourth.

Aaliyah Hudson had 14 points to lead Waccamaw. Kelly Kaz had eight points, Mary Tyler had seven, and Jaynae Rice had six.
