Three fires in Georgetown County over the weekend completely destroyed one home, heavily damaged another and caused minor damage to a nightclub.

The first fire occurred at about 9:20 p.m. Saturday at 2088 Dunbar Road.

Georgetown County Assistant Fire Chief Tony Hucks said when firefighters arrived, flames were shooting through the roof of the single story family home.

He said two men lived in the home and one reported hearing a humming sound in the back of the house then many of the lights went out, Hucks said. Shortly thereafter flames were seen, leading investigators to believe it was an electrical problem that sparked the fire.

Hucks said the fire was out by 11:30 p.m.

He said there were no injuries.

The second fire occurred at about 1 a.m. at  3 Door Disco at the corner of Exodus and Micah Drives in Plantersville.

An electrical outlet problem sparked a small blaze that caused minor damage to the roof of the building. Hucks said that fire was quickly extinguished.

As crews were completing that call, a third fire was reported in the North Santee Community.

Hucks said fire broke out in a mobile home at 11783 Powell Road at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday. The fire spread quickly and the flames were through the roof when crews arrived.

Hucks said it tool about an hour to put out that fire. He said no one was home when the fire started and the cause is still under investigation.
