There was more unrest inside Wedgefield Plantation last week.
On Tuesday, it was the first Property Owners Association meeting since the president and vice president of the organization were recalled.
During the meeting, a 63 year old Wedgefield resident called 911 asking for deputies to respond because, he said, things were getting out of hand.
He said some in the crowd started heckling and were “name calling” during the meeting.
The man asked for a deputy to stay at the meeting to “ensure no one became violent or unruly.”
Two deputies remained on the scene until the meeting concluded.
Indisputable evidence
Someone broke into a truck that was parked at a home in the 6000 block of Highmarket Street last week.
They took a little more than $45, a cell phone and a tooth brush.
It is what was left behind that may help investigators find who is responsible.
A bloody tampon was left on the center console which was taken for DNA testing.
Punched in the head
A 55 year old man said he was attacked by a 31 year old man on Missroon Street Tuesday evening.
The victim said he was walking his dog when the younger man walked up and punched him twice on his head.
The responding deputy saw a small amount of blood on the man’s face.
He said his attacker is mad because he refuses to lend him money.
The suspect had left the area by the time the deputy arrived.
Scam victim
A 70 year old Pawleys Island man said he was bilked out of $1,800 by a scam artist.
The man said he received an email from a female neighbor last week saying she was in the United Kingdom where she had been mugged.
She said she needed $1,300 to pay her hotel bill so she could get her property and return home.
The man responded by writing back saying he was sending $1,800 so she would have some extra money in case it was needed.
The man went to Western Union and wired the money.
Later, he was speaking with another neighbor who said he had received the same email.
That man said before he sent any cash he went to the woman’s house and saw she was home and had not been to the United Kingdom.
The woman said her email account had been compromised and someone was sending out emails in her name.
The man went back to Western Union to see if he could cancel the transaction but it was too late because the money had already been picked up.
Identity theft
Someone has been using the social security number of a Pawleys Island woman to make purchases.
The 30 year old woman said her purse was stolen and she canceled her credit cards. A month later someone used her information in Florida to open a Dish Network account.
The account was active for only two months before it was disconnected for non-payment.
The woman has been told by Dish Network she is responsible for the payment which totals more than $700.
Father-son altercation
Deputies were sent to a Powell Road residence Tuesday and met with a 62 year old man who said he and his 29 year old son were arguing.
During the altercation the younger man was holding post hole diggers and acted as if he was going to use them to hit his father.
“I am going to kill you if it’s the last thing I ever do,” the son allegedly told his father.
The older man said his son pulled a gun on him about two years ago.
The man said he did not want to prosecute.
The preceding reports, compiled by Scott Harper, were collected from local law enforcement offices.
