A 15-year-old was arrested for allegedly breaking into cars during the Carvers Bay High School graduation ceremony on Thursday.

A deputy patrolling the parking lot heard a car alarm and then saw the male teen holding a pocketbook near the car.

He was arrested and his grandmother was found inside the school and was escorted outside to speak with the deputies about her grandson.

A cell phone was found in the teen’s pocket. The phone and purse belonged to the Georgetown woman whose car was broken into.

The suspect was taken to the Detention Center and was released to a relative six hours later.

Woman assaults boyfriend

Deputies were dispatched to Brandy Mill Way in Pawleys Island May 31 because of a domestic situation between a 25-year-old woman and 26 year old man.

The first deputy to arrive reported hearing the couple screaming from inside the home.

Because the front door was open, the officer walked in and the woman continued to yell at the man saying she wanted her phone.

The woman ignored repeated orders from the deputy to stop yelling so she was detained in the patrol car until other officers arrived.

The man was in a corner and appeared to have been crying.

He told the deputy he loves the woman and does not want her to leave him, which he thought she was going to do.

A neighbor reported seeing the altercation and said the woman was the main aggressor.

The woman was arrested and it was discovered she had a warrant from Horry County so she was driven to that county and was turned over to law enforcement.

Attempted burglary

A woman from the 100 block of Howell Road in Andrews returned home at about 9 p.m. Thursday to find her side door was partially removed from its frame.

A rear window was also shattered. A five gallon bucket belonging to a neighbor was under the window.

Entry was not made to the house because there are bars on the windows.

An investigator lifted two fingerprints from the scene.

So far, no arrest has been made.

Church vandalism

Someone broke two windows at Jerusalem Center on Jones Ave. in Andrews.

It’s believed the damage was caused by kids throwing rocks.

Drunk at school

An 18-year-old Carvers Bay High student was allegedly intoxicated while at school May 30.

An art teacher who noticed the student’s condition notified the principal who found the student with a water bottle in his possession.

The bottle contained an alcoholic beverage which the student admitted drinking.

The student had left for the day when a deputy was notified so a warrant was expected to be signed.

Wallet stolen from car

An employee of Cold Stone Creamery in Murrells Inlet said someone broke into her car while she was at work May 31.

Her wallet, containing $12 in cash was taken. Also stolen was a pair of headphones.

There are no suspects.
