Mom files charges against son
A woman who has been living on Haven Drive in Green Acres Mobile Home Park pressed charges against her 22-year-old son after he reportedly took her gun without her permission.
Deputies met with the woman Feb. 10. She said she was packing to move to Johnsonville when she noticed her gun was missing from a drawer.
She said she had been given the gun by a relative when she moved into the mobile home park.
At about 1:20 a.m., deputies received a tip that the man was at his girlfriend’s residence on Towhee Street.
The homeowner answered the door when officers knocked and allowed them inside.
The man admitted he had the gun and took the deputies to his vehicle and handed them the weapon.
He said he did not think his mom cared if he took the gun so he did not consider it to be a big deal.
When she was informed her son had been located, the woman said she did want to press charges, so the man was charged with having stolen property and was taken to jail.
Information is subject to change as the investigation proceeds. Individuals arrested and/or charged have not been convicted.
