Published Wednesday, February 08, 2012 8:33 AM

A 15-year-old Andrews High School student  was charged with communicating obscene messages after admitting he was the one who wrote a profanity-laced letter to a teacher.

The hand-written note was slipped under the teacher’s classroom door Feb. 1.

The report describes the content of the letter as “very obscene and very vulgar and derogative.

In the letter, the teen calls the teacher several profane names.

After an investigation, it was determined the teen was the author of the letter so he was called to the office.

At first he denied writing the note but after continued questioning he admitted he was the writer.

However, he said it was one of his friends who slid it under the classroom door.

The Solicitor’s Office was contacted about the appropriate criminal charge.

The teen was suspended and faces possible expulsion.

Trooper wrecks car

A South Carolina Highway Patrol officer was attempting to make a traffic stop on a vehicle in Andrews at about 10:15 p.m. Feb. 1 when he hit a telephone pole guywire with his patrol car.

It happened at the intersection of Apple Street and North Beech Ave.

The officer was uninjured. His patrol car received minor damage.

The car the trooper was attempting to stop hit a telephone pole and the driver ran from the scene.

Jail worker assaulted

A 44-year-old Murrells Inlet woman was being booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center Feb. 2 when she allegedly attacked a female guard.

The jail worker said she was trying to place the woman in a cell when the suspect tried to pull her hair.

The combative inmate also bit the guard’s finger and scratched her arms and face.

The suspect was originally charged with a driving offense but faces additional charges because of the attack.

Fire destroys camper

Deputies were sent to the 6800 block of Georgetown Highway Jan. 31 because of a camper that was destroyed by fire.

The fire had occurred the previous day.

The owner said he believes his brother is responsible because he had threatened to burn down a building on the property.

He said he had planned to convert the camper into a hot dog stand.

The case is still being investigated.

A really disgruntled employee

A Myrtle Beach woman is accused of — but has not been charged with — trashing the office where she worked after she was terminated.

It happened at a dentist office in Murrells Inlet Jan. 30. A co-worker said the woman was supposed to stop by to get a computer and fill out a time sheet.

When she arrived she “barged” into the office and started “pulling stuff off the wall, breaking phone cables” and a printer,” the report states.

She also threw a computer into a hallway and caused a “gash” in a wall before she left without the time sheets.

The deputy took photos of the scene.
